Their love affair with France began in 2006 during a camping holiday, and by 2021, they had turned their dream of living in the French countryside into reality. Paul, a seasoned carp angler with over three decades of experience, combines his Fisheries Management training with a deep knowledge of carp behaviour to ensure a premier fishing experience. Kelly, with her background in finance and her culinary flair, ensures guests are well cared for and never short of delicious meals. Together, with their rescue dog Lola and newest edition to the pack, Lottie, Paul and Kelly have poured their hearts into making Villedieu Lake a haven for fishing enthusiasts.
A Lake Designed for Anglers
Villedieu Lake is brimming with features tailored for carp anglers. Stocked in early 2022 with over 300 carp, including specimens exceeding 55lb, the lake now boasts around 350 carp, with some surpassing 60lb. Its bed, reminiscent of an old estate lake, is a mix of silt, sand, and gravel, punctuated by intriguing features like stream beds, old tree stumps, and small patches of weed. The lake also features an island in its shallower end, offering varied challenges and rewarding opportunities for anglers.
With ten well-spaced swims, which include singles and doubles, some of which are social banks, you’ll find ample room to relax and focus on your angling. The lake’s depth reaches up to four metres by the dam wall, with an average of around 1.5m ensuring diversity in your fishing experience.
